A Father of an 11-month old daughter today hanged himself and her daughter on a building rooftop. The worst case scenario came when the Thai man made a 2-minute Facebook Live Post, a live video before hanging himself and his daughter, as confirmed by local police on Tuesday. The murder-suicide took place in Sakoo, south of Phuket International Airport, Thailand, late yesterday afternoon.
Wuttisan Wongtalay, a 20-year old man has accused Jiranuch Trirat, his wife of cheating on him before disappearing with their child. Jiranuch told police her husband and daughter went missing after they had an argument about another child she had with her ex-partner.
Following the scene, he climbed to the top of rooftop with the child. A Facebook live stream was made after climbing the building. Strikingly, the mother of child saw the video on Facebook and quickly responded by making a call to the police. However, the act had already been committed and the bodies were recovered later by emergency service workers.
Lieutenant Colonel Sanit Nookhong, from the Royal Thai Police, said:
“an act of jealously” and the girl’s mum is being consoled by family and friends.”
Adding to his words, he stated:
“We had an emergency call from Ms Trirat and launched a search. We found the bodies of the father and daughter. We then checked the video of the man. He had done it before we arrived so there was no way for us to reach them. The man had an argument with his girlfriend. He was jealous and thought that she had other boyfriends. The video was posted at 5.45pm and we had the call at 6.30pm.”
Further investigations are being done with Ms Jiranuch and a consideration will be made on the disastrous event. This has raised the issue whether Facebook or other social networks should host such depressing moments.
