With murders, rapes and torture media running rampant on Facebook user feeds, and the recent horror show of a child being killed on a live stream. The Facebook co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg announced the addition of 3000 more Facebook employees to their already 4,500 workforce, to tackle hate media. Facebook to hire employees for rape, murders and abuses is going for a long run.
Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post-Wednesday morning:
“Over the next year, we’ll be adding 3,000 people to our community operations team around the world — on top of the 4,500 we have today — to review the millions of reports we get every week, and improve the process for doing it quickly.
The billionaire entrepreneur also said Facebook will be making it easier for people to report problems and anti-social media. Facebook reviews millions of reports every week.
Why Facebook’s sudden decision to increase its community operations by 75 percent wasn’t received with a clear response. But it’s a safe bet that the recent live streaming of infant homicide and the over-publicized shooting of an elderly man in Cleveland on Easter Sunday changed the company’s perspective of the problem.
This is a bigger issue than previously thought and solution to the problem doesn’t seem to be appealing. Hiring people en masse for full-time job monitoring reported videos isn’t a great project to be part of.
Thousands and thousands of unseen workers in south-east Asia require psychological counseling and other help as a result of what they have been seen during working for social networks. Perhaps, the corrupt system we are living in forced the Facebook to hire employees and start acting.
And the software to detect and monitor hate content is nowhere near being ready yet. While we reached a Facebook spokesperson for a comment he declined to provide further detail on the announcement of hiring employees.
